Quick Movement Test

 

Once the communications are available and the SATPRO is calibrated, you can perform some quick tests to familiarize yourself with the SATPRO and understand its basic operation.

To ensure the communications are functioning correctly, you can check the icon at the top right indicating that it is linked and communicating, and observe the commands and their responses moving in the text console.

The XLRS_SATPRO app provides interactive help by positioning the mouse over text boxes and buttons, which will assist you in using the app and remembering what each button or configuration does.

Moving the SATPRO:

  • To move or position the X-axis, there is a text box named DX where you can enter the target position in degrees. For example, 25 or 340.4. You can also enter negative degrees such as -25. The maximum is 360º.
    • Remember that 0º on the X-axis should be the true north of the SATPRO, although it is not necessary to physically orient it for some office tests.
  • To move or position the Y-axis, there is a text box named DY where you can enter the target position in degrees. For example, 44. You can also enter negative degrees such as -25. The minimum is -46º and the maximum is 88º.

When the SATPRO starts moving, it will seek the shortest path to reach the target position.

When the motors start, you can see in the position graph that the circles pointing to the position change from gray to red. This indicates that the motors are energized. After a few seconds without movement, you will see the motors deactivate and change back to gray. This reduces the power consumption of the SATPRO and increases battery life.
